Innovation Enhancement: Financial Services
The Situation
The leading UK FS company in its field had a dominant positioning what traditionally was a stable market. Recent market changes led them to realise they needed to be able to move faster than their existing and new competitors. They sought to achieve competitive advantage by being more adept at innovation. Innovation here was from an initial concept, through validation and portfolio management to execution (project & change management), incorporating both the business and IS aspects of the company.
The Approach
An initial 7 week project assessed their current "as is" capability against 8 key capabilites. This was then bench market against other more innovative companies, before a series of workshops with the management led to the desired "to be" state. We collaboratively drew up Programme Plans to initiate a series of projects that the company would then implement
The Outcome
The work has resulted in the change function moving from IT to Finance with a change of staff competencies from IT project management to change leadership. A change model is being designed and company wide change capabilities are being embedded. The company has several cutting edge initiatives on the go.
